This illustrious private members club, built in the early 19th Century, was refurbished solely to upgrade the lighting.

The brief was to create a lighting scheme that is sympathetic to the historical nature of the building whilst being true to the interior design of two contrasting spaces.

The coffee room was originally illuminated solely with the central decorative ‘gasolier’ pendants. During the day the main dining room, or ‘Coffee Room’ as it is  charmingly referred to, has a grand and stately presence as daylight streams through the tall windows. However at night the gloom creeps in as one can barely read with the dim central light offered by the pendants.

Concealed striplighting was cleverly concealed to uplight the decorative coving and provide a soft wash across the ornate ceiling. Discrete spotlights provide additional detail to the central pendants, uplight the decorative acanthus ceiling roses and create a sumptuous feature of the ceiling. Recessed uplights create lit window reveals, beautifully framed by rich curtains.

The listed gilded wallpaper in the morning room was far too precious to touch and we decided to intentionally under-light the space to create a contrasting club-lounge feel. A sense of comfort and style is maintained by illuminating the portraits with bespoke (museum quality) picture lights and focusing on the fireplace.
A RF system was installed, using the existing wiring infrastructure to enable the functionality of a fully flexible pre-set dimming system with minimal re-wiring required to this Listed Building
